Recovery begins the moment a woman walks through the front door at Mrs. Wilson’s. The professional staff implement a program of recovery designed to address the individual woman’s physical, emotional, spiritual and vocational needs.

The program has a variable length of stay determined by the treatment team. Stays generally average 6-8 months. There are three main components of the treatment program:

Counseling- Each resident receives individual and group counseling to address the issues that contributed to or stem from her addiction as well as education about the disease of addiction. Family members are also provided with family group counseling and individual family sessions as needed.

Life Skills- Developing responsibility and improving self-esteem are goals underlying each woman’s treatment plan. After an introductory, each resident is expected to find and maintain full-time employment in the community. She must contribute to the cost of her treatment, perform household chores, and help with cooking for herself and the other residents and participate in governing of the household.

12 Step Groups- The principals of the 12-step model form the basis of Mrs. Wilson’s recovery plan. All residents are expected to become active and participate in the local 12 step communities.

S.H.A.R.E.- SHARE-(Safe Haven Alternative to Rehab Education) was started in 1996 and is designed for residents who might not have attended rehab prior to admission. This part of the overall treatment program lasts for 2-4 weeks and provides education about substance abuse and addiction while the women become acclimated to their new environment.
